Here’s a look at the next quilt to be completed:

hand dyed + vintage fabrics ・ applique letting and stars ・hand embroidery ・English paper pieced hexis

It’s by no means small— but as quilts go, it’s more of a mini or child’s size (though I think it’s an equally excellent wall hanging).

Improvisational Screen Printing Workshop | Palos Verdes Art Center

Instructor: Carrie Burckle

What an incredible two day introduction to screen printing. I’m in love with hand-cutting stencils from personal photos, and (of course) simultaneously utilizing as many colors as humanly possible.

Floating Color |

Take a peek at some of the gorgeous pieces Lisa marbled during her 1:1 lesson.

And friends… she ordered rhinestone shoelaces to go with those amazing shoes 💎✨🤤

I always love a quick spin on the marbling tray after a lesson. Here’s a quick abstract design I made by turning Lisa’s paint palette upside down over the tray (dripping the leftover color) → then taking a few side to side passes with an awl → and voilà!

Pop Up Workshop | guest instructor

I was honored to be a guest instructor, and share the art of marbling, with my {dear} friend Liberty’s (high school) visual arts students.

Each year Liberty invites a different/unique fine art(ist) to teach a specialty discipline, during an in-school “field trip”. With both sets of her students rolled into one classroom, we spent a lovely couple of hours floating liquid paintings as a wonderful collective of artists. At one point twenty-one marbling stations were full, with multiples sets of artists doubling up to design and create together. I wish we would’ve had time for a mini art show before it was time to go!

Prepping

I don’t have shareable pics (of my own) because I don’t post without written permission, but here are a few snaps from the school’s public social share ✨

I also had the great please of attending Michelle Robinson’s | Encaustic Wax Image Transfer Workshop

Hosted by Textile Arts LA | at Craft Contemporary

Roth Draperies |

I will be forever thankful to Tom Roth (of Roth Draperies) who, upon deciding to pivot careers— gave away the entirety of his textile inventory freely, to anyone who could use the supplies… myself included. I can’t explain how much it meant to receive these beautiful bolts of luxury fabric— that I (currently) wouldn’t have been able to buy otherwise, and spend time chatting with Tom. Before I left, he told me to remember to always be unique… so I plan to use these fabrics for my most ambitious and adventurous projects, and honor this lovely gift.
